USD 447 to Consider Lighting Upgrades, Track Replacement

The USD 447 Cherryvale-Thayer school board is expected to discuss a proposal to convert all of the district’s buildings to LED lighting and hear proposals for the replacement of the track at Cherryvale Middle/Senior High at tonight’s meeting.

The lighting proposal was tabled at the end of last month’s meeting in order to give board members the opportunity to receive more information about the proposal. At the February meeting, several board members wanted to see information on actual energy savings form other schools in the state that have made the change to LED lights in order to justify the expense of the project.

The Board is expected to continue a discussion of the replacement of the track at Logan Park in Cherryvale by giving the go-ahead to begin soliciting bids for the project. This is the second step of a four-step process.

Board members are also expected to approve the 2025-2026 school year calendar.

Tonight’s meeting will begin at 7pm in the library at Cherryvale Middle/Senior High school. It is open to the public.
