Two Arrested in Southwest Missouri for Homicide in Drug Trade Death

Authorities in Newton County, Missouri, have arrested two people in connection to the 2024 drug overdose death of a Neosho man.

39-year-old Jesse Dunn was found deceased on December 1, 2024, of a suspected drug overdose. An investigation by the Newton County Sheriff’s Office and the Neosho Police Department determined that the fentanyl Dunn took may have also contained the veterinary tranquilizer xylazine. The two suspects arrested in the case – Gatlin Pennington and Madison Stonecipher – are accused of knowing the drug was laced with the tranquilizer when they traded it to Dunn in exchange for a CNC cutting machine known as a Cricut machine. Both Pennington and Stonecipher have been charged with second degree murder in the case.
