A police chase in Bourbon County comes to a quick end when the suspect's car gets stuck in a muddy field.
The incident began on Wednesday evening when a Bourbon County Sheriff's deputy attempted a traffic stop on US-54. The deputy recognized the driver of the vehicle a 54-year-old Chad Church of Moran. Church had an active warrant for his arrest.
Church refused to pull over for law enforcement and proceeded to flee the scene, leading police on a chase into Linn and Anderson counties. Eventually, Church drove into a field where his vehicle became stuck in the mud. Deputies were then able to take him into custody without further incident. A passenger in the car – 68-year-old Timothy Dawdy of Blue Mound – was also placed under arrest.
Both were taken to the Bourbon County Jail in Fort Scott. Church faces charges of Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, Burglary and Theft while Dawdy is charged with Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of Opiates, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
