A Kansas City man is sentenced to two life terms in prison for the killing of two Wyandotte County Deputies.
36-year-old Anthony Fielder entered a guilty plea in December to two counts of capital murder in the shooting deaths of two sheriff's deputies in 2018. Fielder was charged with the murders of Theresa King and Patrick Rohrer in a gated area behind the Wyandotte County Courthouse in Kansas City, Kansas. The two deputies were transporting between the courthouse and the jail when Fielder overpowered them.
At the time, Fielder was facing a trial for first-degree murder in Jackson County, Missouri. Fielder had previously been tried twice in a different case for the first-degree murder of a Kansas City woman. When the second trial ended in a hung jury, the murder charges were dropped.
Fielder pleaded guilty in the deputies' case in order to avoid the death penalty.
