Roosevelt Middle School in Coffeyville is among three area schools to receive threats this week.
An email sent to parents of Roosevelt students states that the school received a bomb threat yesterday morning. School officials implemented emergency response protocols and all students and staff were evacuated from the building as a safety precaution. Officers from the Coffeyville Police Department and troopers from the Kansas Highway Patrol conducted a search of the school with the assistance of K-9 bomb-sniffing officers. No suspicious devices were found and the threat was determined to not be credible.
Law enforcement is continuing to investigate the incident to find the source of the threat. Other middle schools in Bartlesville and Skiatook received threats yesterday as well. Those threats were also determined to not be credible.
Anyone with information about any of these threats against local schools should notify the school or contact local law enforcement.
