Two brothers are arrested in connection to the Tuesday evening shooting of a Carthage man.
Carthage Police have arrested 23-year-old Dylan Hershey and 19-year-old Hunter Hershey, both of Carthage, in connection to the Tuesday night shooting of 27-year-old Austin Hodge. A witness on the scene claims to have seen Dylan Hershey pull a handgun on Hodge just before the two men began a physical altercation. The witness told police that when the shooting began, Hodge fled, with both Hersheys shooting at him.
Hodge was taken to Mercy Hospital in Joplin in critical condition where doctors reported he had suffered 21 gunshot wounds.
The Hershey brothers are currently being held in the Jasper County Jail where they each face felony charges of 1st Degree Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Armed Criminal Action.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
