The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a stream advisory for Cow Creek Near Pittsburg and Highway 160.

The advisory was issued due to operational issues at the Pittsburg Wastewater Treatment Facility. The City of Pittsburg is working to resolve the issue. Water in the creek may contain elevated levels of e coli bacteria and other contaminants. Those who live near the stream or who have activities in the area are advised not to allow humans or animals to enter the stream or to consume water from the stream until further notice.
