Statewide Severe Weather Drill Set for Tomorrow

The calendar has turned from February to March and that means severe weather season is upon us in the four-state area.

In order to be prepared for storm season, the State of Kansas and the National Weather Service will hold a statewide severe weather tornado drill tomorrow at 11am. Residents should treat the drill as if it were an actual tornado warning and react the way you would in the event of actual severe weather. The purpose of this drill is to test everyone's readiness for life-threatening severe weather such as tornadoes, flash floods, and damaging winds.

The National Weather Service encourages everyone to participate in the drill by sheltering in place and discussing emergency plans with family members and co-workers.

Be prepared for severe weather sirens to go off at 11am tomorrow as a part of Kansas Severe Weather Preparedness Week. In the event that there actual severe weather in the area tomorrow, NWS will postpone the test.
