A two-vehicle accident near Benedict in Wilson County claims one life.

 

38-year-old Heather Vanleeuen of Savonburg was killed yesterday in a collision with another vehicle on K-39 just west of Benedict. Vanleeuen's 2013 Ford Explorer was eastbound on K-39 around 8pm last night when it crossed the center line and struck the front of an oncoming semi driven by 34-year-old Ruslen Shcherbakov of Cary, Illinois.

 

The collision caused the Explorer to leave the roadway, overturn, and come to rest on its driver's side in the ditch.

 

Vanleeuen was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.
