The City of Parsons will begin storm siren testing next week.
Starting Monday, March 10, the Parsons Police Department will begin its weekly testing of the city's storm sirens. The once-a-week test will take place at noon on Mondays. However, testing will not occur if there is any severe weather in the area. The weekly test will be conducted to ensure that the storm sirens are in working order in case of severe weather.
In the case of severe thunderstorms or tornadic activity, the storm sirens are intended to alert citizens that are outside that they should take cover. Sirens are not intended to be heard inside buildings and may not be audible to those inside homes.
If the sirens go off during severe weather, citizens should take immediate cover.
