A Fort Smith, Arkansas, teen changes his plea in a murder case and receives a lengthy prison term.

16-year-old Connor Castillo was charged with the December 2023 shooting death of 15-year-old Bailey Smith. A 12-year-old was also wounded in that incident. Castillo originally entered a not guilty plea to the charges, but changed that to guilty on Friday. Following the change in plea, Castillo was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder and another 10 years for battery.

Fort Smith Police say the murder occurred when Castillo got involved in a fight, then pulled out a gun and started shooting. Friends of the victim say that Smith was killed when trying to break up the fight and protect his girlfriend.
