A Friday evening train derailment on the Union Pacific tracks in Parsons causes a street closure during clean up.
Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks stated that six train cars derailed in the incident but that no hazardous materials were involved. Railroad staff reported rubber pellets and tallow to be among the materials that spilled. One propane car was involved but was not found to be leaking. Crews from Union Pacific were dispatched to clean up the spill and to right the rail cars. The Kansas Highway Patrol also assisted at the accident.
No one was injured in the derailment.
