A former executive director of an Oklahoma company that provides living services for vulnerable adults is indicted on two felony counts of embezzling funds.
46-year-old Freedom Anderson worked as the executive director for Brightway Community Living and is accused of embezzling more than $15,000 from the organization between August 2022 and May 2024. The Multi-County Grand Jury indictment was unsealed yesterday and states that, during Anderson's time with Brightway, the company received state aid dollars to offer services, but instead, pocketed the money.
Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond stated that when someone embezzles funds from the state's most vulnerable citizens, they are stealing not only money, but opportunity and dignity as well.
Brightway has multiple locations across the state of Oklahoma, including in the Tulsa and Bartlesville areas.
