The weather may be spring-like now, but a week ago, southeast Kansas travelers were hampered by a major snow storm.
While many residents stayed off the roads during the bad weather, city and county road crews stayed busy trying to keep roads clear of snow and ice. At this week's Montgomery County Commission meeting, Commissioner Mike Cordray thanked Public Works Director Brandon Beurskins for all the hard work his crews put in.
During snow storms, major roadways are given top priority and crews are later able to work on secondary streets and county roads. Crews often work extended hours during winter storms to clear roads and maintain road safety.
