Grass Fire Causes Highway Closure in Central Kansas

A grass fire causes the closure of a central Kansas highway for several hours yesterday afternoon.

US-160 was closed for several hours yesterday afternoon due to smoke from grass fires near the Barber/Comanche County line to US-281 near Medicine Lodge. Sustained winds in the area were reported to be above 25 mph. Fire crews from neighboring counties were called in to extinguish flames. The highway was reopened when the fire was out.
