The new Freeman Hospital location in Fort Scott names six people to its Board of Directors.
The new board includes local business leaders and other professionals, including Freeman Health System President and CEO Paula Baker, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Michael Zafuta, and President of the Fort Scott Are Chamber of Commerce Lindsay Madison.
Northwestern Mutual Financial Advisor Don Doherty was elected Chairman of the Board. The board will oversee the new hospital's operations, financial health, care quality, and the overall direction of the facility.
Freeman took over the hospital last June after the facility closed in December 2023. Renovations have begun at the Fort Scott facility, which is planned to open sometime this spring.
