Walk Kansas Celebrates 25th Year

A well-known Kansas health initiative celebrates its 25th year.

This year marks the 25th year for Walk Kansas, a health initiative that promotes personal health and well-being by helping its participants adopt healthy lifestyle habits. Kansas State Extension Specialist and State Leader of Walk Kansas Sharolyn Jackson says the program can help people get a jump start on healthier living.

Walk Kansas begins officially on March 30th and runs through May 24th. Jackson encourages people to participate in teams of four to six people and adds that forming a group with co-workers is a great way to socialize while reaching health goals.

While the program encourages people to participate as a team, individuals are also welcome to join the initiative. Another important part of health is healthy eating. Participants in Walk Kansas are also asked to keep tracks of the the foods they eat during the program.
