The Kansas Congressional Republicans vote in favor of a Continuing Resolution aimed at reducing the federal deficit and increasing spending on border security.
House Continuing Resolution 14 passed the U.S. House of Representatives on a narrow, party-line vote on Tuesday night. Congressman Ron Estes of the 4th Congressional District says a failure to act on the measure would hit his constituents hard.
Estes says the bill had to be approved to keep taxes from going up for Kansans.
Estes was joined by fellow Kansas Republican Congressmen Derek Schmidt and Tracey Mann in voting for the resolution. Democrat Sharice Davids voted against the proposal. The total vote in the House was 217 to 215.
