A Saturday morning fire destroys a Baxter Springs trailer home.
The Baxter Springs Fire Department was called to the scene in the 500 block of West 16th Street in Baxter Springs around 10am on Saturday morning. There they found a single-wide trailer home fully engulfed in flames. A call for mutual aid was sent to the Galena Fire Department to assist in extinguishing the blaze. Fire crews worked quickly to douse the flames, but the home was a total loss. All occupants were able to escape the fire safely. However, two of the family's cats perished in the blaze.

Baxter Springs Police and EMS assisted on the call.
