Neodesha teacher Trenton Lowry is honored by the Kansas State Department of Education for excellence in teaching.

 

Lowry was awarded the Kansas Horizon Award on Friday at the Kansas Exemplary Educators Network or KEEN State Education Conference in Topeka. Lowry teaches instrumental for USD 461. The Kansas Horizon Award recognizes educators for their outstanding teaching skills in their first year of teaching.

 

The program is sponsored by the Kansas Department of Education and allows school districts across the state to nominate one elementary school teacher and one secondary teacher for the award, To be eligible, teachers must have completed their first year of teaching and have also performed in such a way as to distinguish themselves from other first year teachers.

 

Thirty-two total teachers were given the award this year.
