**UPDATE**

Fire crews in Parsons are called to a structure fire.

 

Just before 10am this morning, Parsons Fire, Parsons Police, and Labette Health EMS responded to reports of a building on fire in the 1900 block of Belmont Street. When crews arrived on the scene they found an apartment on the first floor of Belmont Towers in flames. Several residents were evacuated from the building due to heavy smoke. The fire was quickly brought under control. The building was determined to be structurally sound and safe. All residents were able to return to their homes.

 

No injuries were reported.

Parsons Fire, Labette Health EMS, and Parsons Police have responded to 1900 Belmont for a report of a fire. The fire was contained to one unit of 1st floor. Several residents have evacuated due to smoke. Parsons Fire is continuing to investigate any hot spots and getting smoke out of the building.

 

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and give emergency responders a safe area to work.
