The Coffeyville Police Department are warning residents of a new scam circulating in the area.

 

The scam involves a text stating that the recipient has a package available for pickup from the U.S. Postal Ser vice, but that the package was not delivered due to incorrect address information. The recipient is then directed to a Hotmail or Outlook email address to provide information.

 

C-P-D says this is a scam and to not give out your information.

 

C-P-D advises residents not to respond to text from unknown numbers or organizations and not to click on links in suspicious texts. Always be wary of texts that promise big paydays or tax refunds, those that threaten arrest, or ones that request personal or financial information.
