Several southeast Kansas communities are set to receive grant money from the state to fund water projects and technical assistance.
The funding comes via statutes passed by the Kansas Legislature and administrated by the Kansas Water Office. The City of Humboldt was awarded $3 million and West Mineral will receive $664,000 from the water grant fund.
Two local Rural Water Districts were awarded grant funding for technical assistance. Montgomery #9 will receive $55,000 while Wilson County #4 will get $39,700. Parsons, Liberty, West Mineral, La Harpe, and Girard were also named as funding recipients.
The total outlay by the state for this round of grants was $26 million.
