Former OK Governor David Boren Passes Away

 

Former Oklahoma Governor David Boren has died.

 

Boren began his political career in 1967 when he was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He served as the 21st Governor of Oklahoma from 1975 to 1979 and later represented Oklahoma in the U.S. Senate. A conservative Democrat, Boren was the last member of his party to have held a U.S. Senate seat from Oklahoma. Boren left the Senate in 1994 to become President of the University of Oklahoma. He retired from that position in 2018.

 

He passed away at his home in Norman early on the morning of February 20, 2025, at the age of 83.
