The extreme cold temperatures and recent heavy snowfall means that most area schools will remain closed today.

 

Closures include public schools in Montgomery, Wilson, and Labette Counties. Bartlesville and Nowata schools will go to distance learning today. Labette Community College, ICC, and CCC have also canceled classes for today. However, CCC basketball games scheduled for tonight at Nellis Hall will be played as planned.

 

Major roadways and highways are much improved today, but back roads and side streets may still be covered and hazardous. The Kansas Department of Transportation reports that crews are still working but slick spots remain, even on highways in southeast Kansas. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has made a similar report regarding roads in Oklahoma. Drivers are urged to proceed with caution.
