Members of the Kansas Congressional delegation are backing a proposal that would move the Food for Peace Program from the jurisdiction of U.S. Agency for International Development or USAID to the Department of Agriculture.
The Food For Peace program was out in place to reduce hunger and malnutrition in countries around the world. Senator Jerry Moran addressed the issue last week on the floor of the US Senate. Moran says the program is part of national security.
Moran co-authored the bill with Senators John Hoeven of North Dakota, and Roger Marshall of Kansas, and Representative Tracey Mann of the first Congressional District of Kansas.
