The Kansas Legislature votes to override Governor Laura Kelly's veto of a bill that would prevent doctors from performing surgical and hormonal treatments on children with gender dysphoria.
The Help Not Harm Act was vetoed by the Governor last week. Yesterday, the Kansas Senate voted 31 to 9 to override the veto, while the vote in the House passed by a single vote, 85 to 34. Representative Mark Schrieber of Emporia broke with fellow Republicans to vote against the override. Two other Republicans were absent and did not vote.
