Independence City Commission Approves Engineering Agreement for Memorial Hall HVAC

The Independence City Commission approves an engineering agreement with L, S & A of Overland Park to investigate options for replacing the current HVAC system at Memorial Hall.

Assistant City Manager David Cowan says the city will have several options to choose from on how to replace the system, but that, whatever the decision, the work needs to be done. Cowan says it will be a costly project for the historic 1923 building.

Cowan adds that the current heating and cooling system was installed in 2006 and is close to complete failure. Commissioner Dean Hayse says the immediate need for the repairs is part of the cost.

The commission approved the expenditure of no more than $48,000 for the engineering firm to determine options for the repair work.
