Kansas Lawmakers Consider Laser Pointer Bill

Kansas Lawmakers are considering a bill that would make it a crime to shine a laser pointer at a law enforcement officer.

Representatives from the Kansas State Troopers Association testified at a senate judiciary hearing yesterday. Association President Sage Hill says laser pointers are often associated with firearm aiming systems.

Hill says laser pointers can pose a major safety issue for law enforcement officers as they try to do their jobs.

The proposed legislation, Senate Bill 156, still has several hurdles to clear before it would be heard on the floor of the Kansas Senate.
