An Altoona man is sentenced to more than 5 years in prison after being convicted of nine counts of child exploitation.

The sentence was handed down for 45-year-old Mickey Joe Callarman in a Montgomery County District Court this week. Callarman was arrested in February 2019 after law enforcement discovered pornographic images of an 8-year-old family member on a personal device belonging to Callarman. Court documents indicate that Callarman will also be required to register as a lifetime sex offender and complete a 24-month post-release supervision.

The sentence was the maximum allowed under Kansas law.
