Road Conditions May Remain Hazardous This Morning

Road conditions may still be iffy this morning as the four-state area digs out from the latest winter storm.

Yesterday's ice and snow combined with extremely cold temperatures overnight have left many roads in southeast Kansas treacherous despite the work of city, county, and state road crews. The KanDrive app from the Kansas Department of Transportation still shows major roadways in northern Montgomery and Labette Counties as partially covered. Drivers are urged to use caution on US-75 north of Independence and on Highways 160, 166, and 59 in Labette County. Major highways in western Elk and Chautauqua Counties and into Cowley County are also listed as partially covered.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says crews have been treating slick spots overnight in the Tulsa metro area and that slick spots may remain on highways and interstates, especially on bridges and overpasses.
