Police in Wichita are investigating an attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl.

 

The incident happened around 3:40pm on Monday as the girl was walking home from school. The girl's mother told police that two men in a maroon sedan approached the girl. The men made catcalls and attempted to pull the girl into their vehicle by grabbing her backpack.

 

The 14-year-old was able to flee and ran to a neighbor's house for help. The victim's family say the girl may have been targeted for the crime, reporting that she had received a series of unusual phone calls starting late last week and running through the weekend.

 

Wichita Police say the investigation is ongoing.
