An Ohio man is in custody in Mayes County, OK, after leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen car..
A License Plate Reader or LPR alerted police in Pryor Creek of a stolen vehicle on US-69 yesterday morning. When officers attempted to pull the 2021 Dodge Challenger over, the driver fled at a high rate of speed, heading south to Chouteau and then west on Highway 412. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol eventually deployed stop sticks after the chase exceeded speeds of 160 mph.
The driver of the Challenger – 23-year-old Jacob Romanos of Columbus, OH – was taken into custody. A loaded firearm and stolen license plates were also found in the car. Romanos now faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, felony eluding, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
He is currently being held in the Mayes County Jail in Pryor.
