Former Wildcat Star Arrested in Airport

A former All-American basketball player at Kansas State University was arrested over the weekend at the Manhattan Regional Airport.

Michael Beasley was found with just under six grams of marijuana while trying to board a plane, and was arrested for possession of marijuana. He was released after posting a $750 bond, and was in town attending the Sunflower Showdown between his alma mater and the Kansas Jayhawks.

Beasley was named an All-American after an incredible freshman season in which he averaged 26 points and 12 rebounds per game, and led the Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament. He was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, and has played 11 NBA seasons, and most recently played for the China League Shanghai Sharks in 2022.
