An Oklahoma man is dead after being struck by a train at a railroad crossing in southwest Kansas.
35-year-old David Vargas of Hooker, OK, died Friday after being struck by a train in Kismet, KS. The small town with a population of just over 300 is located about 17 miles northeast of Liberal in Seward County. Vargas was driving on Main Street in Kismet around 4:30 on Friday afternoon when he drove around the lowered crossing arm at the railroad tracks and was struck by an eastbound train.
Vargas was pronounced dead at the scene.
