Crews from the Independence Fire & EMS respond to an early morning house fire.
The call came in around 4:30 this morning and firefighters were dispatched to the 1000 block of West
Chestnut Street to find a single-story unoccupied house engulfed in flames. A second alarm was sounded and Independence Rural Fire arrived to assist. Crews were quickly able to bring the blaze under control. Firefighters observed that the fire had spread to the attic and holes were cut in the roof in order to fully extinguish flames. There were no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Independence Fire and Police Departments.
