The identity of the human remains found last week near Cardin, OK, is now known.

The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed the identity of the remains to be that of Aubrey/Austin Dameron. Dameron was a member of the Cherokee Nation and was last seen leaving a residence in the Grove area in the early morning hours of March 9, 2019. Dameron was 25 years old at the time and had plans to meet with someone. The Medical Examiner's Office stated that the remains had been in the area for some time and that foul play is suspected.

The investigation into Dameron's disappearance and death is being led by the Quapaw Nation Marshal Service Investigative Division with assistance from the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, the Bureau of Indian Affairs Missing and Murdered Unit, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
