Parsons City Commission Approves Bid for Project at Tolen Creek

Parsons City Commissioners approve a bid for a major project slated for Tolen Creek Park.

At this week's meeting, Commissioner Kevin Cruse informed the commission that the Kansas Department of Transportation had approved a bid for improvements to be made to trails at the park. Cruse says the total cost of the project will be over $500,000.

The total cost for the project includes a match of $117,000 by the City of Parsons. Commissioner Leland Crooks says another item the city needs to consider is better signage for the area.

Tolen Creek Park is located north of Parsons at 1400 Cattle Drive along Little Labette Creek. The Park currently features amenities such as walking trails, a fishing pond, and a stone house built in the 1890s.
