This year's legislative session in Topeka is in full swing, and top lawmakers are sharing their priorities.
Leadership of the Kansas House and Senate appeared on KGGF yesterday in Topeka during SEK Day on the Hill, an annual event organized by Southeast Kansas Inc.
House Speaker Dan Hawkins says some priorities on the House side include working on the budget, workforce development and property tax relief. He says both the house and senate are working on bills.
On the Senate side, Senate President Ty Masterson says there's work at the state level to follow President Trump's “No Tax on Tips” initiative. The recently formed Senate Committee on Government Efficiency also reflects the Department of Government Efficiency's Goal's at the state level. Masterson says there's a new portal where the public can submit ideas.
