Rose Hill Police Arrest Adoptive Parents in Death of Child Found Buried in Yard

Police in Rose Hill arrest the adoptive parents of a 6-year-old child who was found buried in the family's backyard last fall.

The remains of 6-year-old Kennedy Jean Schroer were found buried in the backyard of a Rose Hill home on September 11. Investigators determined at the time, that the child had likely died sometime in 2020 after being adopted by Joe and Crystina Schroer in 2019.

Rose Hill Police Chief Taylor Parlier stated that the department had gathered enough evidence to arrest the couple in the case. Crystina Schroer faces and charge of first-degree murder while she and her husband Joe both face four counts of child abuse and torture.

The Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center found that the child died by suffocation and ruled her death a likely homicide.
