A new presidential administration puts a new wrinkle in a grant proposal for Montgomery County.
The County has been taking steps to submit a proposal for a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to provide funding for a major road project planned for the area near the Bartlett Soybean Plant. County Administrator Jonathan Booe says the change in presidential administrations has complicated the issue but the proposal is still on track.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be $15.5 million, of which, 80% or $12.4 million would be paid for by the RAISE grant. Another grant from Build Kansas would cover an additional $3.1 million, leaving the total cost to the taxpayers of Montgomery County at around $155,000.
