Peck Advocates Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Cuts

The new session of the Kansas Legislature is well underway and the Republican-led majority is ready to begin working on the state budget.

Governor Laura Kelly released her budget proposals following her recent State of the State address. Kelly's budget includes Medicaid expansion, education, and $90 million for water infrastructure projects.

State Senator Virgil Peck, who sits on the Budget Committee, says the Legislature has a plan to counter the Governor's numbers.

Peck says the state must find a way to reduce spending.

The 2025 Legislative session began on January 13.
