The new Allen County Sheriff has only been on the job for a few weeks, but he is already making an impact on the community.

Sheriff Anthony Maness was dining at an Iola restaurant over the weekend when he heard another customer ask their dining companion if she was okay. She was not. During the meal, the woman had begun to choke on her food. Maness, who was sworn in as the new Allen County Sheriff just a few weeks ago, went quickly into action and performed the Heimlich maneuver on the choking woman. The offending piece of food was soon dislodged and the woman was able to breathe again thanks to the quick reaction of Sheriff Maness.
