The Kansas State Fire Marshal is called in to investigate a fatal structure fire in LaHarpe.

The fire occurred around 7am yesterday morning when the Allen County Sheriff's Office and the LaHarpe Volunteer Fire Department responded to reports of a fire in the 400 block of South Broadway in the City of LaHarpe. When crews arrived on the scene, they found a single-family residence fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters went to work quickly, battling the blaze for several hours before it was extinguished. When first responders investigated what was left of the house, an unidentified body was discovered. An autopsy will be conducted.

The investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.
