City of Miami to Improve Senior Center

Big changes are happening at the Miami, OK, Senior Center.

Leadership at the Center reorganized recently following the dissolution of the former board. Ownership of the Center also reverted to the City of Miami. The new five-person board will now serve in an advisory capacity to the Miami City Council.

Along with the reorganization of the Center's leadership, is a remodeling of the Center's meeting space. Up for discussion are an estimated $90,000 in improvements including a new kitchen, a new water line system, new appliances, new paint, and new flooring. All renovations would be paid for through grant money.

The Center currently offers an on-site gym, a three-table pool room, a library, an 1/8 mile walking track, two meeting rooms, and a rentable ballroom. The new board has set membership at $25. The Senior Center Board meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month and is open to the public.

The Miami Senior Center is located at 21-04 Denver Harner Drive and is open weekdays from 9am to 4pm.
