Altamont City Council Approves Repairs to City Building Damaged by Water Leak

The Altamont City Council approves nearly $10,000 to repair damage to the city office building.

City Administrator LeaAnn Myers reported to the Council in December that the city office building had a leak in the roof. Myers stated that the damage was worse than previously thought but that the city’s insurance company informed her that the needed repairs would not meet the policy deductible. After a lengthy discussion, Council members approved a bid for $9,340 from Russel Construction in Parsons to complete the repairs.

The Council also approved $350,000 for Midwest Construction to begin phase one of a sewer repair project. This phase of the project will include the construction of a new sewer lift station.

Also approved was the annexation of a property at 1005 Huston into the City of Altamont, Fire Chief Cody Dickerson also reported that Richard Heyward was appointed as Assistant Fire Chief.

The next Altamont City Council meeting will be held on February 13.
