The errors from the Montgomery County Treasurer's Office continue.
A recent discovery of another error in figuring property taxes in Montgomery County will once again end up costing taxpayers to fix it. The issue affects parcels in Montgomery County that are eligible to attend schools in Fredonia or Neodesha. Those districts have different mill levies that were not included on the last property tax statement.
County Treasurer Nancy Clubine told the County Commission at this week's meeting that the errors can be fixed by hand or the county can pay to have the software company Comtech fix them. Clubine says fixing them by hand would be difficult.
Clubine adds that the error must be fixed by law.
The commission voted unanimously to spend $4,500 to have Comtech fix the error. This comes on top of a similar expenditure of $22,000 in December to correct another error on county property tax statements.
