A Baldwin City man is dead following a single-vehicle accident on the Kansas Turnpike.

61-year-old Delbert Oldfield died yesterday in an accident on I-35 in Overland Park. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Oldfield was traveling at a high rate of speed when he swerved to avoid a collision with another vehicle. The action caused Oldfield's vehicle to run off the road and strike a concrete barrier. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
