OK AG Requests Clemency Denial for Death Row Inmate

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond requests a denial of clemency for a convicted murderer.

On Wednesday, Drummond asked the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board to deny clemency for Wendell Arden Grissom. Grissom is set for execution in March for the November 2005 murder of 23-year-old Amber Mathews.

Grissom was convicted of killing Mathews during an attempted burglary of a home near Watonga, located northwest of Oklahoma City. A second woman and two children survived the attack. The other defendant in the crime Jessie Johns is currently serving a life sentence without parole for his role in the crime.

Drummond called the crime monstrous and urged the board to deny clemency for the cold-blooded killer.
