Police in Okmulgee are investigating after human remains are discovered.

The investigation began after a citizen found a skull near Highway 62 in Okmulgee on Monday. When police arrived on the scene, they found multiple human bones in the area, A forensic anthropologist from the Medical Examiner's Office was called in to collect the bones and take them to the Medical Examiner's Office for identification. Police say identifying the victim is a priority because it will give investigators a way to proceed in the case.
